According to Olivia Newton-niece, John the celebrity was “in a lot of pain” and “contracted secondary infections” before she passed away.

Following a protracted battle with cancer, the “Grease” legend passed away early on Monday at her home in Southern California. The 73-year-old was surrounded by family members, including John Easterling, her husband, and Chloe Lattanzi, her daughter.

We were aware of how ill she had been, particularly during the previous five days, said her Australian niece, Tottie Goldsmith, on Tuesday’s “A Current Affair” TV program.

“It wasn’t only cancer that got her; it was various issues, being in a hospital, and having a highly sensitive immune system,” she added. “She developed further infections. Within the past five or six days, she severely worsened.

Throughout her protracted battle with Stage 4 illness, Newton-John was a vocal supporter of using cannabis to help manage the severe pain she faced. However, according to Goldsmith, the medication ultimately offered only a little pain relief.

Goldsmith said, “It wasn’t enough,” adding that her aunt “truly struggled with a lot of pain.”

At the time of her death, Goldsmith was unable to be with chart-topper Newton-John; instead, the two spoke via FaceTime.

Goldsmith claimed, “I told her all I needed to say. She was leaving us, but I think she understood.

The upset niece also disclosed that Newton-John had been acting tense when they had last spoken in Australia.

When I asked her whether she was afraid of dying because she was weak and underweight, she replied, “I’m not afraid. I’ve accomplished more in my life than I ever dreamed possible. Those are her last words of her, which show how brave she has been.

Her Stage 4 cancer had gone to her bones, and the bubbly British-Australian blonde had been fighting it for years.

In 1992, when she was 43 years old, the singing legend received her initial breast cancer diagnosis.

The celebrity learned that the illness had returned in 2013, and then in 2017, she learned that it had spread to her lower back. Doctors later declared that there was a slim possibility of survival as the cancer spread.

On the Australian podcast “A Life of Greatness” in February of last year, Newton-John was honest about death.

We live our lives in denial, she said, even though we all know we’re going to die. It’s difficult to express since it’s so deeply personal.
