Woman Reacts To Those Who Believe Her Hubby Should Be With Someone Thinner Than Her

Following a user’s comment that her husband should be dating someone thinner than her on social media, a content creator and influencer addressed the criticisms of her relationship.

On Tuesday, June 21, Canadian Alicia Mccarvell addressed the insults in a TikTok video that has received over 12 million views.

When posting content on TikTok, Mccarvell and her husband, Scott, frequently discuss different aspects of their relationship.

The remarks followed Mccarvell’s recent posting of a transition video that showed the couple standing in front of a mirror while still in their towels before dressing to go to a wedding.

22 million people have seen the video since it first went viral.

While many of the comments were supportive and complimented the couple, Mccarvell claimed she also got several messages from people who insisted their relationship didn’t “add up” due to the couple’s weight differences.

“My video became viral, and we all know why,”. We don’t make sense by beauty standards, she said, so that’s why.

“When the world sees us, it values Scott over me right away.”

According to Mccarvell, in her experience, individuals strive to “add worth” to her to “make sense” of their relationship.

“They make comments like, Oh, she must not have been obese when they met, or oh, she’s had to be rich,” she said.

Or they try to minimize his contribution by claiming that he must be g*ay or that he has a fetish for obese ladies.

These opinions, according to Mccarvell, are a reflection of societal beauty standards that assert that physically healthy people are more appealing than those who are not. They are not reflective of the couple’s marriage.

She continued, “We’ve been led to believe that a physically fit man like Scott could never in a million years be in love with or compatible with a fat woman.

“And the only reason for that is because the world has taught us to value ourselves in relation to our body.

Mccarvell stated that a woman recently messaged Scott and claimed he should be with someone who looks like her instead of his wife, providing a specific example of some of the critiques the pair encounters.

Mccarvell described the stranger as “slim and by beauty standards a 10 out of 10.”

“But here’s the thing: I told myself for most of our relationship that I wasn’t deserving of his love because of my body, just like this skinny woman told him she was deserving because of her body.”

“She overvalues herself, and I do the opposite. Both of us have been led to believe that our bodies are what make us valuable.

Mccarvell claimed that her body’s ability to meet traditional beauty standards is “not on the top of his list” when it comes to her husband’s values.

“He appreciates my sense of humor, my loyalty, my affection, and my kind nature. If my body changes, none of these things he appreciates will change.

“If this is how you think, it’s how you’ve been taught to think,”. You must take responsibility for unlearning it, though.

TikTok users who could possibly relate to the criticisms Mccarvell receives have praised her statements.

“This is really crucial. Learning that we are all deserving of love, despite our size, is such a difficult lesson to learn. I appreciate you speaking about this on your platform,” one person said.

“I’m in the same boat, another person wrote. I’m huge, my partner’s small, and I’m still attempting to absorb this way of thinking. You are my most important resource.
