But recently, Ellouise was able to witness the fulfillment of her desire thanks to some helpful staff at Gulfport Care Center, her nursing home.

After learning about Ellouise’s wish, activity director Lisa Perdue tracked down a nearby Christian-based learning facility, Wells of Southgate, that could assist the senior in obtaining her GED.

“I had never had the opportunity to graduate before today.”

Making this possible, according to Lisa Perdue, is a blessing for her and her teammates.

Ellouise is the first student at the learning center to be awarded an honorary GED. The person who gave the 90-year-old the certificate, Leonard Martin, said it was “wonderful to be engaged” and expressed the hope that many people “follow in her footsteps.”

Congratulations to Ellouise on earning her honorary GED at the age of 90! It’s a story that demonstrates that pursuing a long-held ambition is never too late in life.
